Digital X-Ray

Digital X-Ray

Utilizing the most accurate and clear X-ray image is important in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with orthopaedic problems and/or injuries. WestSound Orthopaedics in Silverdale, Washington uses a GE digital X-ray system.

This system exhibits a much clearer image and provides a higher contrast and resolution when compared to the film/screen method previously used. (The resolution is higher than a human eye can appreciate.) The size and shape of the X-ray system also allows for faster and easier positioning that can lead to less stress for injured or ill patients.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI

To provide effective treatment for your orthopaedic needs, your physician must begin with an accurate diagnosis. Because exams do not always indicate the extent or severity of an injury or condition, your physician relies on the finest state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology available. WestSound Orthopaedics uses the full-body 1.5 GE MRI to provide accurate and timely test results.

MRI is a radiation-free exam that produces very clear pictures of the human body without X-rays. It uses a large magnet, radio waves, and a computer to produce detailed pictures. An MRI shows bone, soft tissue, ligaments, blood vessels, and nerves very clearly. This enables physicians to easily diagnose and treat illness, injury, and infection.

Once your MRI is complete, it is interpreted via a secured internet connection by certified radiologists at Olympic Radiology, located in Bremerton.

Ultrasound-Guided Injections

Ultrasound-Guided Injections

To assist in pain relief and reducing inflammation, we use ultrasound-guided injections, during which a painless ultrasound enables us to see video images of the location our physicians are injecting to improve accuracy and results.

Injections can either be cortisone, a steroid that provides quick, though usually temporary, pain relief, or viscosupplementation, a series of injections that helps to diminish pain and increase mobility for a longer period of time, particularly for osteoarthritis of the knee.

PRP Injections

PRP Injections

WestSound Orthopaedics provides office-based platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for the treatment of chronic tendonitis, tendonosis, and chronic muscle strains.

PRP uses a patient’s own blood obtained in the office at the time of the procedure. It is prepared in the office by centrifuge, which concentrates the platelets rich in growth factors necessary for tissue healing.

In response to an injury or tissue damage, your body naturally recruits platelets and white blood cells from the blood to initiate a healing response. Under normal conditions, platelets store numerous growth factors that are released in response to signals from the injured tissue. Modern technology allows us to concentrate platelets and white blood cells from your blood and induce this growth factor release as we inject the solution directly into injured tissue, simulating this same healing response.
